Creative Research

I find much of my focus in performance research goes to how well I can build an inner world in which the character (even in abstraction) I am portraying is believable by the audience. I often question: am I accessible as a performer?

Current choreographic research lies in finding ways of story telling that evokes a visceral reaction in the audience. This reaction I think lies in ways that the psoas is accessed by the performers, and so I often look for explorations of activating both the psoas and the vagal nerve.

My current projects explore representation of bodies and culture inside screendance, specifically of Filipino folk dance. In the examining of my curret aesthetic, I would say I lean towards building worlds that might belong in the solar punk realm.
